Our staff are enthusiastic and passionate and love to see this passed on to our pupils. We produce a fabulous school show every 2 years at The Brunton Theatre and can be regularly found performing in charity events in our local area, let us know if you have something coming up. Our studio is well equipped with mirrors and ballet barres and is also open to external rentals, just get in touch for availability.
R.A.D, R.T.S, A.I.S.T.D (Modern Theatre and Tap)
Jenna started dancing at the age of 3 studying the core subjects of Ballet, Modern, Tap and Jazz. At age 17 she went on to train at Dance for All Theatre School in Edinburgh where she completed the 3-year course in Professional Stage Dance. She gained her vocational exams with R.A.D. and I.S.T.D. which led toward completing her teaching qualifications with both associations in the genres of Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap.
Jenna went on to dance for a number of different companies in Pantomime, Fringe shows and tours all the while putting her teaching qualifications to good use at dance schools in Edinburgh, East and West Lothian and Fife. Jenna opened Freedom and Form Dance Training in 2013.
Despite starting dance at the late age of 16, Kirsty became a student of Jenna’s and achieved her RAD exams from Gd.4-8 and higher in later years. Kirsty was accepted onto a full time training course at 18 and packed a lot in to a short amount of time. Kirsty left her training with a HND in Professional Stage and a BA Hons in Dance and joined Freedom and Form as an assistant teacher. Since then Jenna mentored Kirsty through the R.A.D C.B.T.S scheme and has become specialist Ballet and near completion of the C.B.T.S certificate. Kirsty is also our qualified Acrobatic Arts instructor and Musical Theatre coach. Kirsty loves seeing the hard work and enthusiasm that Freedom and Form students show throughout the year and hopes to pass on her knowledge and passion for dance to them in the years to come.
A.I.S.T.D (Modern Theatre)
Stacey has had a passion for dance since a young age. After leaving Broughton High School where she attended the Specialist Dance Department, she was successful in auditioning for a place at Dance For All full time college. At age 19 she graduated with an HND in Professional Stage Dance along with her Diploma in Dance Education teaching qualification (I.S.T.D.). Since then Stacey has worked professionally in the industry performing in hotels in Edinburgh as well as overseas for 5 years in the Greek Islands and Egypt. She is delighted to be part of the Freedom and Form team and to be able to share her knowledge and experiences with the students.
Clare trained at The London Studio Centre and graduated with a BA Hons in Theatre Dance. In her 3rd year Clare toured England with the Jazz Co in which she performed in pieces choreographed by the likes of Gary Lloyd, Gareth Walker, David Needham and Kevin Allen. Whilst at college Clare also danced in various pop videos. Upon completion of her degree Clare moved to Paris and worked as a dancer for Disneyland Paris. Clare has been teaching now for 11 years both in Edinburgh and London, teaching Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Street Dance. Clare teaches in both private schools and delivers dance as part of the Scottish curriculum in various schools. Since moving back to Scotland Clare has choreographed for many shows including Pantomimes and Fringe shows. At Freedom and Form Clare takes both our Street Dance and Lyrical classes.
Sophie has joined the team to help with enquiries throughout the year. She will be your communication for booking parties and ordering our Branded items as well as keeping track of our busy school diary.
We are lucky enough to have some of our older students assist at a number of classes. Here’s an introduction to the girls:
Lucy has been dancing for twelve years and does ballet, tap, modern, pointe and jazz classes. Lucy said “I have loved all my time at Freedom and Form and always look forward to dance classes. The best bit about being part of the dance school is how much fun you have and how everyone feels welcome. I love assisting at the younger children’s classes because it is a great experience for me and it’s lovely to see the joy young children get from a dance class! In the future I would love to continue dancing because it is such a big part of my life.”
Amy has been dancing since the age of 3. Amy takes lessons in Tap, Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Pointe. When asked about her thoughts on Freedom and Form Dance Training she said “My favourite thing about Freedom and Form is being able to spend time with all my friends as well as taking part in dance classes. I really enjoy being a class assistant because it’s great to see the younger dancers develop their skills and love for dancing! I hope to go to a dance college after High School and maybe even use it as a career in my future.”
Becky has been dancing since age 4 and joined Freedom and Form Dance Training at 11. With us Becky studies Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Acro and Musical Theatre. Becky said “The best thing about Freedom and Form is that I can dance every day with my friends and I love the shows. I like assisting because I get to see what teaching is like which is something I am interested in. When I’m older I would like to teach dance and possibly one day own my own dance company.”
